Membership Classes

Conservative Lutheran Background

For people who were confirmed in the Wisconsin Synod
(& many people who were confirmed in the Missouri Synod)

"Savior's Message at Saint Mark's": is a brief and basic membership course for those who have a strong Lutheran background and are looking for a church home at Saint Mark's.

These classes give those who attend a quick overview of some basic Bible teachings. The classes take up the subjects of sermons, songs, and Bible study at Saint Mark's-- as well as the congregation's history, structure, organizations, and budget. In addition, the classes provide those who attend an opportunity to get to know their three full-time pastors a little better.

Saint Mark's expects its new members (by transfer and by profession of faith) to attend the "Savior's Message At Saint Mark's". However, those who are already members also profit by attending these sessions.

The classes take place on four consecutive Sundays (usually April, August, and December) in Room B-1 of the Parish Center from 8:45 to 10:15.

For more information or to register for the next set of these classes, please call the church office at #262-8500.

No Conservative Lutheran Background

For people who were not confirmed in the Wisconsin Synod
(or possibly in the Missouri Synod)

"How Has God Shown His Love For Us? -- A Comprehensive Look At The Bible" is a comprehensive membership course for those who do not yet have a strong Lutheran background and are looking for a church home at St. Mark's. These classes give those who attend a solid overview of basic Christianity. After an introductory session, seven sessions devote themselves to Bible History (from Adam and Eve, through Christ, to you and to me), and seven sessions devote themselves to Bible Teaching (on the basis of the Luther's Small Catechism). The course concludes with a brief overview of our doings at Saint Mark's Lutheran Church.

Generally, Saint Mark's begins the courses above every four months (at the beginning of the months of January, May, and September). Pastor Walther has been teaching them on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30. These classes serve as Saint Mark's membership courses. However, those who are already members will also profit by attending these sessions.

For more information or to register for the next set of these classes, please call the church office at #262-8500.
